When a candidate nominates you as a referee, you will receive an email from SEEK Pass requesting your reference. If you have an Australian or New Zealand phone number and the candidate has provided this, you may also receive an SMS notification. This article provides guidance on how to identify a legitimate SEEK Pass SMS nomination notification.
To begin, click Start reference check in the email. You’ll be prompted to sign in to Jobsdb, then directed to a SEEK Pass form where you can confirm the candidate’s details and complete a reference questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of 14 questions, for which you will be asked to provide ratings and/or comments. Please see our article here for the questions you’ll be asked.
You’ll be given the option to provide your reference using our AI voice assistant, or by typing manually. If you choose to use our voice assistant, your responses to the questions will be summarised automatically.
Before you submit your reference, you will be given the opportunity to review and edit your responses to the questionnaire.
Please note that you have seven days from the initial nomination to submit your reference.
For guidance on how to write a good reference, please see our referee guidelines.
