I have received an SMS to provide a reference, is it legitimate?

When a candidate nominates you as a referee, you will receive an email from SEEK Pass requesting your reference.

If you have an Australian or New Zealand mobile number and the candidate has provided this, you may also receive an SMS notification. Please note that SEEK Pass does not send SMS notifications to mobile numbers that are registered outside of Australian and New Zealand.

If you have an Australian number

The sender ID for a legitimate SEEK Pass SMS will be SEEKPASS and the message will contain a secure link that takes you directly to the reference questionnaire. Please note that you will be prompted to sign into SEEK first.

If you have a New Zealand number

The sender ID for a legitimate SEEK Pass SMS will be 2901 and the message will contain a secure link that takes you directly to the reference questionnaire. Please note that you will be prompted to sign into SEEK first.

Please contact our Support team immediately if you receive an SMS notification that:

• is sent to a mobile number registered outside of Australia or New Zealand

• has a different sender ID to those listed above

• has a sender ID that does not match your country

• requests personal information or documentation
